WORKS ( Works) in OA (Office Automation) Materials Development
Our products are used in a variety of everyday settings, including schools, offices, government agencies, and medical facilities. Each usage environment and printing medium has different requirements and quality objectives, and achieving a high level of compatibility across them is essential. To accomplish this, advanced technical capabilities are indispensable, enabling us to combine various technological elements to create a viable product. Here, we introduce our technological capabilities and initiatives that support product development.
Product development for new models
We develop critical components that can be considered the "engine" of a printer, determining its performance. Our role is to translate our customers' qualitative requests, such as "clearer images," into specific material formulations and manufacturing techniques by highly integrating material design, formulation design, process design, and evaluation and analysis technologies. Furthermore, the greatest appeal of this job is the tangible sense of knowing that our technology supports people's lives through development that looks all the way to the end user.
Manufacturing process design and improvement
The printer components we manufacture are used worldwide in millions of units every year.
This quality is supported by meticulous process design and automation technology. By identifying even slight changes in the properties of raw materials and optimizing the blending and molding conditions, stable production is achieved throughout the year.
Furthermore, we pursue productivity and cost to the absolute limit, alongside maintaining quality. Through the knowledge accumulated on the factory floor and continuous improvements, we achieve both high quality and efficiency in mass production, continuing to support the daily lives of users around the world.
Development for new applications
Leveraging the "surface functionalization technology" cultivated through the development of office automation components, we are exploring new fields. Our strengths lie in our unique integrated technologies encompassing materials, formulations, and processes, such as particle dispersion technology for controlling minute surface roughness and conductivity control for static electricity prevention.
Currently, we are not only working in the field of electronic components, but also tackling unresolved societal challenges by combining these existing technologies to create new value. Leveraging the knowledge we have cultivated, our challenge to expand applications further continues.
The rewards of developing office automation equipment.
We are responsible for the core technologies that support world-class printing quality. There is no single right answer in the process of transforming abstract customer requests into concrete functions using material and formulation design and evaluation techniques. We quantify requirements through trial and error and derive the optimal solution for quality, cost, and productivity ourselves. There is an exciting aspect to being a "manager of a single component," overseeing the entire manufacturing process and driving the business forward. By continuously tackling difficult problems, you will hone your skills as an engineer and experience a wealth of opportunities for personal growth.
A job where you are both an engineer and a "manager of a single component."
This job requires a broad perspective, viewing the assigned component as "an entire business." It involves not only technological development, but also a comprehensive view of the entire manufacturing process, from marketing to understand customer needs, to process design and cost management. It can also be described as a job that involves determining market value and deriving the optimal solution for quality, cost, and productivity. The responsibility and sense of accomplishment that comes from knowing your decisions directly impact the business's competitiveness is a unique appeal of this job. Furthermore, it's a challenging environment where young employees can have significant autonomy, deepen their expertise, and develop the ability to drive the business forward.
Overcoming challenges where you can't immediately find the "right answer" is the source of growth.
Our work isn't simply about "giving shape to a given answer." It's about understanding the underlying reasons behind our customers' subjective requests, such as "higher quality," and finding solutions by verbalizing and quantifying those requirements ourselves. The process of thoroughly considering everything from the usage environment to manufacturing conditions, and repeatedly going through trial and error, is by no means easy. However, overcoming challenges and hitting walls leads to significant growth as an engineer. It is the experience of confronting difficulties head-on that cultivates essential skills that will last a lifetime.
Desired Person Profile
Starting with customer value, we connect "technology and people" and see things through to the end without backing down - Owner-centered development -
What we seek are individuals who start with customer value, connect technology and people, and have the ability to see things through to the end. It's not just about developing technology; it's about understanding customer challenges and needs, collaborating with people inside and outside the company, and taking responsibility for the project from start to finish. Even young employees, if they have the passion to create something new, can generate their own ideas, test them, and face high goals and challenging problems head-on. Through these experiences, they will hone not only their technical skills but also their judgment and communication abilities.
By mastering this sense of ownership, you will transcend the role of a mere engineer and grow into a leader who drives entire projects and a core member of the business. You will be able to thrive as a professional with strong charisma, someone who is sought after both inside and outside the company, with people saying, "We want to create new value together with you."
A spirit of inquiry that delves into the "why?" and gets to the heart of the matter.
It's essential to not only focus on the surface of things, but also to deeply understand the underlying principles and mechanisms (logic and data). Instead of simply concluding that experimental results are "somehow better/worse," it's crucial to thoroughly investigate "why did this number occur?" and "what are the reasons for the changes?" Staying attuned to global trends and social issues like carbon neutrality, and enjoying the process of repeatedly formulating hypotheses and testing them in response to unknown questions, will accelerate your growth as an engineer.
By continuously going through this "hypothesis testing" cycle, you will acquire overwhelming applicability skills that are not dependent on specific products and are applicable anywhere. Even if the materials or themes you work with change, you will be able to instantly grasp the essence of things and become a strong engineer who can derive reproducible optimal solutions, excelling in various fields.
The ability to involve those around you and act with a sense of urgency.
The development environment is constantly evolving. You can't stay confined to your desk or laboratory; you need to actively move things forward by visiting manufacturing sites, sales planning departments, other departments, and even customers, confirming the "actual product and situation" firsthand. We're looking for someone who can drive projects forward with speed, secure cooperation from others, and demonstrate strong leadership.
By mastering this "agility to engage those on the ground," you will grow into a global leader who can spearhead the resolution of various challenges both domestically and internationally. You will be able to instantly build relationships with overseas offices and teams with different cultures, and play a key role in moving the organization to the next stage with a sense of urgency.
Flexible "straightforwardness" and "dedication" to craftsmanship
It's about balancing the flexibility to accept others' opinions with an unwavering commitment to quality and technology. The ability to readily accept new knowledge and advice from customers and other departments, and to update oneself accordingly, is essential for growth. On the other hand, it's equally important to never compromise in manufacturing and to have a strong commitment to one's work, always striving to make things better. We believe that those who can approach their work with sincerity while maintaining this sense of balance are the ones who will thrive as engineers leading the next generation at Archem.
By achieving a high level of balance between honesty and dedication, they will grow into "pillars of the organization" who pass on Archem 's DNA (technical prowess and pride) to the next generation. While continuously updating themselves in line with changing times and environments, they will uphold the principles that Archem will never compromise on. Such individuals will become "role models" that their juniors look up to and support the organization.
