Interview with Koichi Kitaguchi

Please tell me about your previous work experience.

I joined Bridgestone Chemicals Central Japan Co., Ltd. as a new graduate in 2008 and was assigned to the Technical Development Department. After working in technical service, I gained experience in the Technical Department at the Komaki Plant, the Technical Department at the Yoshida Plant, and the Business Strategy Planning Department. Since 2025, I have been involved in the management of the technical department as the Technical Department Manager at the Komaki Plant.

Please tell me about your current responsibilities.

As the head of the Technical Department, I am responsible for preparing for the stable production of new products at the factory and working to improve product quality. My main role is to design manufacturing methods, install equipment, and establish safe and efficient work rules so that we can always produce the products our customers require correctly. In addition, when issues arise in the factory, I work with stakeholders to find solutions and I also focus on training and supporting younger staff. I work every day in collaboration with many colleagues in manufacturing, sales, and other departments to achieve better manufacturing.

Are there any memorable experiences from your work so far?

I have particularly fond memories of developing and selling our own brand of kitchen sponges. While we usually create products based on customer requests, this time we aimed for something "environmentally friendly and easy to use," planning everything from the shape to the packaging from scratch. Working together with colleagues from various departments, overcoming challenges one by one, and finally reaching the launch gave me a great sense of accomplishment. It was a job where I truly felt that our product was helping someone.

What's the atmosphere and interpersonal relationships like at your workplace?

This is a workplace with active communication, where greetings and conversations are exchanged naturally on a daily basis. It's easy to interact with colleagues regardless of department or position, and you can easily ask for advice when you're in trouble, so I feel it's a comfortable and warm place to work.

What do you feel are the essential or important elements required for your current job?

What's important is not only specialized knowledge, but also the attitude of investigating the cause by asking "why does this happen?". I also believe it's crucial to not try to handle problems alone, but to collaborate with others, exchanging ideas and finding solutions together.

What are the attractive aspects of Archem Business Japan?

Many people may be hearing the name "Archem Business Japan" for the first time, but we are actually a company that supports many everyday items. Our technology is utilized in a wide range of fields, including car seats, kitchen sponges, mattresses, housing insulation, and precision parts for printers. A major strength of our company is our ability to handle everything from development to manufacturing, while adapting the shape and function to meet customer needs. I believe that the feeling of supporting everyday life is what makes our company so appealing.
