Industrial Business Division 2, Sales Department
Kenji Nagasaki
Joined the company in 2005
Please tell me about your previous work experience.
I joined Bridgestone Chemical Products Osaka Co., Ltd. in 2005 as a mid-career hire and was assigned to the Vehicle Materials Development Sales Department. After handling vehicle-related customers, I gained experience in sales to vehicle customers in the Tokai region, as well as customers in the home appliance, building materials, and household goods sectors. Since 2025, I have been involved in sales management in the Sales Department of the Industrial Business Division II.

Please tell me about your current responsibilities.
Currently, I am broadly responsible for maximizing sales at our Kansai base, primarily in Osaka, handling everything from management and system development to supporting employees' sales activities. During my time as a sales staff member, I focused on honing my negotiation and proposal skills with clients and generating sales myself. Now, as a manager, I prioritize creating an environment where all employees can work positively and comfortably, rather than just focusing on my own results. Therefore, I carefully review issues and progress in weekly meetings and work with an awareness of ensuring the smooth operation of the entire organization.
Are there any memorable experiences from your work so far?
The most memorable moment in my career was when our products were officially adopted by a global construction machinery manufacturer. It all started as part of our new business development efforts, when we proposed our products to a customer at an overseas location with whom we had no prior business relationship. Starting with listening to their problems, there were many tense moments during our interactions with the overseas development center, but by collaborating with various departments within the company, we were able to solve the issues and create a product that satisfied them. This experience remains a great source of confidence and a valuable asset to me today.

What's the atmosphere and interpersonal relationships like at your workplace?
We have many experienced veteran employees, so you can always consult with them if you have any problems or questions. During breaks, there are many conversations about hobbies and everyday life, creating a comfortable environment where it's easy to interact with people across departments and age groups.
What do you feel are the essential or important elements required for your current job?
In sales, the most important thing is the ability to listen and accurately understand the customer's current situation and challenges. Furthermore, it is essential to have a willingness to help, to empathize with the customer, and to work alongside them to solve their problems while building a relationship of trust.

What are the attractive aspects of Archem Business Japan?

Working with such products allows us to feel that our work is contributing to society, leading to a great sense of fulfillment. Furthermore, we believe that the environment that fosters individual growth and a sense of pride is another attractive aspect of our company.
