Please tell me about your previous work experience.

I joined Archem Business Japan in 2022 as a mid-career hire and was assigned to the Purchasing Department, Purchasing Section. Following an internal organizational restructuring in 2024, I transferred to the Purchasing Management Section, Purchasing & Procurement Department. Currently, I am responsible for supplier management, cost improvement activities, and efforts to control price increases for raw materials and components.

Please tell me about your current responsibilities.

The Purchasing Management Department manages supplier information used by each factory and is responsible for optimizing costs across the entire company. For example, if each factory uses a different logistics company, we consolidate information from each location and unify suppliers to negotiate for better contract terms. Even small improvements, when accumulated, lead to significant cost reductions and play a crucial role in supporting the business. I feel a great sense of responsibility and fulfillment in my work of finding ways to use the company's money efficiently and reducing waste.

Are there any memorable experiences from your work so far?

As part of our global purchasing activities, I was suddenly tasked with conducting a meeting in English, which was the most memorable experience for me. It was a challenge since I'm not particularly proficient in English, but it was a valuable experience interacting with people from various overseas group company locations. Also, due to rising prices, I had more opportunities to be involved in negotiations with suppliers. At first, I didn't know how to proceed, but with the advice of my superiors and senior colleagues, I was able to help keep price increases down, which I remember as a great learning experience.

What's the atmosphere and interpersonal relationships like at your workplace?

This is a warm and reassuring workplace where you can easily consult with your superiors and senior colleagues. It's easy to have casual conversations, not just about work, and there's active interaction across departments and age groups. I feel truly blessed to be in such a supportive environment.

What do you feel are the essential or important elements required for your current job?

The key to this job is the ability to coordinate and persevere. You need the ability to work with relevant departments, taking into account the circumstances and changing environment of sales, suppliers, and others, to find the best solution and resolve problems.
