Interview with Keisuke Tamai

Please tell me about your previous work experience.

I joined Bridgestone Chemicals West Japan Co., Ltd. in 2006 as a mid-career hire and was assigned to the Manufacturing Department at the Yoshida Plant. Subsequently, I gained experience in the Manufacturing Department at the Mie Plant and in vehicle product sales at the Hiroshima Office, and since 2026, I have been involved in the management and operation of the manufacturing site as part of the Manufacturing Department at the Yoshida Plant.

Please tell me about your current responsibilities.

Since joining the company, I have primarily worked in the manufacturing department, mainly in charge of the adhesive coating line for urethane materials. From 2023 to 2025, I gained experience in the sales department, where I was able to learn about perspectives beyond manufacturing and customer requirements. Currently, I have returned to the manufacturing department, and I am working to further improve costs by increasing work efficiency, while utilizing the perspectives I have gained from both sales and manufacturing. I value my past experience and network, and I am also focusing on creating a system where we can work together as a team by strengthening communication between manufacturing and sales.

Are there any memorable experiences from your work so far?

My work maintaining quality on the adhesive coating line is particularly memorable. Because adhesives are easily affected by ambient temperature and other factors, it was necessary to carefully adjust the conditions according to the situation to ensure stable line operation. While it was challenging, I felt a great sense of accomplishment when we were able to maintain quality. Also, price negotiations during my time in sales were a memorable experience. I will never forget the sense of accomplishment I felt when I carefully listened to the customer's needs, conveyed the appeal of the product, and reached an agreement.

Archem Group has a corporate culture that values communication, making it a workplace where it's easy to build bright and positive relationships. I often get hints for solving problems from everyday conversations, and I feel it's a very comfortable environment to work in.

What do you feel are the essential or important elements required for your current job?

I believe that a strong focus on cost reduction is crucial in the manufacturing department. While high quality is a prerequisite, providing products at attractive prices requires constant cost awareness and building trust through results.
